Alfabetica - "nytt" ordspel släpps i Sverige

Isländska Isöld släpper nu ordspelet Alfabetica i Norden. Spelet, vars engelska namn är Crosswords pyramids, är ett spel för 2 - 4 ordkunniga personer. Precis som Alfapet och Scrabble gäller det att skapa ord, och desto längre och "svårare" ord, desto mer poäng.
Spelet är riktigt underhållande och klurigt. I Alfabetica kan bilda riktigt långa ord, som systemoperatör, historielärare, djurskötare m.fl. Även här finns det få Z, C, Q, och det gäller att få ord med så många poäng som möjligt.
Under våren kommer Alfabetica få en egen hemsida.

International Mind Sports Association

Last week I send a question to the new borned IMSA (who is Chess, Go, Backgammon and Bridge) and asked what we can do if we are interested to be a member in IMSA.
IF we want to be an serious mindsport I think it is positive and importent that Othello is a part of the IMSA. We will get good public relations and we will be known together with the "big elephants".

But are we ready to be members? No, not yet. We have at least two year with hard work to get the "W.O.F." working. And maybe some year more before we are ready to be member. And are we ready or interested to be member in IMSA? I think we must be more wellknown, growing more, and of course be more serious. And with serious I mean that WOC and International tournaments must be more wellknown and serious as tournaments. And do we want to be more serious then we are right now? WOC is a social event, will it still be that if we will be more attractive for press and working to be a serious mindsport?
I think yes, but it depends on us players, if we are interested to work hard to let Othello grow as a real game and in same time saving the faboulos social Othello spirit we showed this WOC (and all WOC).

However it will be long time to we "maybe" can be a member in IMSA, if ever. We dont know if they are interested to have games who "only" have 3.000 active players all over the world as members. Maybe we are a too little federation, or maybe Othello not are interesting enough because we dont doing so much "noise" about our game.

But still .. it is an interesting thought ...

World Othello Championships 2005

It was an adventure to go to Iceland for the 2005 WOC! When Anjar first asked me in May about to be T.D., I thought Iceland maybe could be not so good as a WOC-place, but after beeing there and checked the venue and Reykjavik and meeting Isöld I was sure it should end good. And yes ... it was a success!
I want to go back to Iceland again, maybe go there and playing in the Reykjavik Othello Open in summertime.

I will say thanks to all who come and did the 2005 WOC to a fun success! It was nice to meet you all. Isölds owner Björn told me after the WOC that he was real positive surprised about the good feelings between players. He saw no hard feelings and people was happy when other players win their games. He saw a big differens between WOC Othello and other games as Chess.
And I agree! Othello tournaments is not only a competion to life or death, it is also a social event and a place to have fun with Othello friends.

2005 can also be a importent year in the Othello historic, 1977 and 1985 is two other importent years. This year we created the Interim Council of a World Othello Federation. Next year in Japan we will vote for the real council and about the statutes and other importent things. But it was amazing to see all 23 hands voting for a World Othello Federation! I think this will be great for our favourite game in the future. Othello is growing all over the world and we need a solid ground to stand on. And this is the start!
